Agefield High Characters & Romance Guide (All Routes)
✔ Last checked: 2026-08-30
Agefield High: Rock the School is set in the small town of Agefield in 2002, and its cast is a deliberate roll call of early-2000s teen-comedy archetypes: the new kid, the schemer best friend, the wannabe rockstar, the jock villain, and two very different prom dates. This guide covers every named character, how the relationship system works, and which romances actually lead somewhere — including the Lisa confusion that tripped up half the launch-week guides.
Unlike our officially-sourced characters page, which only prints names from Refugium’s own material, this guide includes the community-reported roster from players who have finished the game — every unverified detail is flagged.
The core trio
Sam Tatum (the player character)
Sam is a high school senior whose parents move him to Agefield just before graduation. He is a fixed protagonist — you cannot create a custom character, but you can change his clothes, hairstyle, accessories, and tattoos, and collect bicycles. Every meaningful late-game choice, including the prom date that decides the ending, runs through Sam.
Kale Banes
Kale is the plan’s architect — the friend who decides the trio’s final months of school must be legendary and recruits Sam on day one. He drives the “Rock the School” three-step plan: take down the jocks, throw a massive party, and land prom dates. Kale is controlled by the narrative in missions; he is not a second playable character.
Axel Filly
Axel is the self-proclaimed rockstar of the group, already on board with Kale’s scheme when Sam arrives. His music obsession feeds the band thread of the story, which culminates in the prom-stage performance. Like Kale, he appears in story scenes and AI-assisted set pieces rather than under player control. One walkthrough reports that a late-game scene where Principal Carpenter catches Axel is the story’s key loyalty moment — stand by him if you want the triumphant finale (verify in-game).
The love interests
Only two characters have verified romance routes, each ending in a Steam achievement. There is no hidden third option.
Ashley Alcock
Ashley begins the game as Seth Remus’s girlfriend, which makes her route the riskier, more dramatic one — winning her over is itself a blow against the jock hierarchy. Her missions surface during the school year alongside the anti-jock storyline. Take her to prom and you get the Ashley ending, with the achievement “Ashley’s sweet boy Sam.”
Chloe Rogers
Chloe’s route grows out of Sam’s social missions — community guides specifically credit the prank call mission and the guitar sequence with developing her arc. Her achievement name, “Chloe’s little guitar hero,” says it plainly: her story is tied to the game’s music thread. If you enjoy the rhythm minigame, hers is the thematically satisfying route.
How the romance system works
- Character missions: Each girl has her own side missions that appear during the year. Clear them as they show up — rushing the main plan can reportedly stall romance content before prom (verify in-game). The 32-mission walkthrough marks where the key beats land.
- Dialogue: Walkthroughs report that consistent supportive dialogue choices build the relationship, while neglect or hostile picks sabotage it (verify in-game — no one has mapped exact point values).
- The prom choice: Near the end, the game asks Sam to commit to a date. This is the branch between the game’s two endings. Make a manual save first if you want both achievements — full details in our Ashley vs Chloe endings guide.
The Lisa question
Several launch-week walkthroughs told players to “build your relationship with Lisa” for the good ending — and that advice does not survive contact with the facts. Character listings place Lisa in Sam’s family alongside his mom Brianna (reported as his sister), and the Steam achievement list contains no Lisa prom outcome. Later guides issued corrections: Lisa may appear as a classmate beat in German class scenes, but she is not a romance option (verify her exact family role in-game — sources conflict, which is exactly why we flag it). If a guide tells you to romance Lisa for an ending, it is working from pre-launch speculation.
The antagonists
Seth Remus
Seth is the lead jock and Sam’s main rival — the human face of the social hierarchy the trio wants to flip. He starts the game dating Ashley, so the Ashley route doubles as a personal feud. The mid-game jock-war missions (turf fights, locker room raids, tagging his ride) all orbit Seth’s crew.
Principal Carpenter
Principal Carpenter is the institutional threat: the escalating prank campaign puts him on Sam’s tail, and he stars in at least one chase/escape mission. In the reported bad ending, it is Carpenter who catches Sam at prom and expels him. Refugium Games even signs patch notes with his name (“A Letter from Principal Carpenter”), which tells you how central he is to the game’s voice.
Family, staff, and townsfolk
- Brianna — Sam’s mom, part of the home-life scenes.
- Ms. Davidson and Ms. Wallace — teachers running class minigames among the five subjects (English, Math, Geography, German, Music); exact subject assignments vary by source (verify in-game).
- Mike — a town character connected to shops or side hustles (verify in-game — role is thinly documented).
- Mayor Wellbe — never met directly so far as guides report, but his autographs are a full collectible set with its own achievement.
