Agefield High Saves — Cloud, Backups & Protecting Your Run

✔ Last checked: 2026-08-18

Steam Cloud is confirmed. Everything else about saving in this game is worth being careful with, because crashing is one of its most reported problems.

✅ Verified August 18, 2026: Steam Cloud appears in the store listing’s feature set, alongside Steam Achievements, full controller support and Family Sharing.

🔄 What we have not confirmed: whether the game offers manual save slots or only autosaves, and the exact save-file location on disk. We are not going to publish a path we have not checked — the wrong path in a backup guide is worse than no guide.

What Steam Cloud does and doesn’t do

It does: sync your save between any machines signed into your Steam account, and keep a copy on Valve’s servers so a dead hard drive doesn’t cost you a run.

It doesn’t: protect you from a corrupted save. Cloud sync copies whatever the game wrote — including a bad file. If a crash produces a broken save and the game then syncs it, the cloud copy is broken too. Cloud is disaster recovery for hardware, not for software faults.

That distinction matters more than usual here. In a game where crashes are among the top complaints, the failure mode you are actually guarding against is the one Cloud does not cover.

The two-endings save

The game confirms two endings, decided by a choice at the prom that the store page presents as genuinely consequential. There are also 11 achievements across a 32-mission campaign, and it would be unusual if none of them were ending-linked.

So: if manual saves exist, make one before the prom decision. That converts “play the whole game again for the other ending” into “reload and pick differently.” Five minutes of foresight against several hours of replay.

If it turns out the game only autosaves, the calculus changes — you would need a manual file backup at that moment instead, or accept a second run. We will update this page rather than guess.

Backing up a long run

The safest approach that does not require knowing the exact save path:

  1. Let the game close cleanly. Quit through the menu, watch for the Steam Cloud sync indicator, and don’t kill the process or shut down the machine while it’s writing.
  2. Check the cloud sync actually happened — Steam shows a sync status when a game closes. If it errors, resolve it before launching anything else.
  3. Use Steam’s built-in backup (Steam → Backup and Restore Games) if you want a full local copy before a risky session.
  4. Before any big irreversible moment — the prom especially — consider copying your save folder somewhere else entirely. Windows’ file search for the game’s name inside your AppData folder will find it; that is more reliable than trusting a path from a website that hasn’t verified it.

If your save breaks

  • Check Steam Cloud first. If the corruption happened locally and the cloud copy predates it, the cloud version may still be good. Steam sometimes prompts you to choose between local and cloud versions on launch — read that dialogue carefully rather than clicking through it.
  • Verify game files (right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity). This won’t repair a save, but it rules out a broken install as the cause.
  • Report it. Save corruption is a bug the studio needs to hear about, and this one has been responsive to feedback — the first patch shipped a day after launch.

What we still need to confirm

  • Whether manual save slots exist, and how many
  • The exact save file location on Windows
  • Whether the game autosaves between missions, and how frequently
  • Whether Family Sharing (a confirmed feature) has any save-related quirks

FAQ

Does Agefield High have cloud saves?

Yes. Steam Cloud is confirmed on the store listing, so your progress syncs between machines signed into the same Steam account — provided the game exits cleanly enough to write the sync.

Where are Agefield High save files stored?

Unreal Engine games conventionally store saves under your Windows user folder in AppData — usually AppData/Local/[GameFolder]/Saved/SaveGames. We have not verified the exact path for this game and won't state one we haven't confirmed; the reliable way to find it is Steam's own backup tools.

Should I save before the prom?

Yes, if manual saves exist. The game has two endings decided by a choice at the prom, so one save at that point turns a second playthrough into a reload — useful for the ending-linked achievements.

Can crashes corrupt my save?

Crashes always carry that risk in any game, because a save written mid-crash can be incomplete. Given that crashing is one of this game's most reported problems, backing up a long run is more worthwhile here than it would be for a stable release.
